As well as being a spiritual home for our community, FRS is also a large and complex organisation which relies on the involvement of many lay leaders, as well as our wonderful staff, to ensure everything is properly run.
The governing body of the synagogue is our board of directors, which we call “Council”. It comprises 12 -14 members who meet regularly to listen, discuss, reflect and make decisions, all of which contribute to the strategic direction of the community.
Our council members are elected at our AGMs, which take place in March, and we would like to hear from anyone who might be interested in being considered for election in 2020. We aim to have a broad range of skills, ages, and interests around the Council table, and at present we would particularly love to hear from anyone with experience in safeguarding, or with a keen interest in music. The time commitment is modest – one Monday evening meeting per month. Of course, we also hope to see Council members regularly in shul, and representing the community at external events, but that would be up to you!
